Cynthia Erivo Takes Flight Toward EGOT Glory with 2025 Oscars Nomination

Cynthia Erivo is soaring to new heights! The powerhouse performer has been nominated for Best Actress at the 97th Academy Awards for her spellbinding portrayal of Elphaba in Wicked. The nomination puts her one step closer to achieving the coveted EGOT—an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony.

Erivo’s EGOT journey began with a Tony win in 2016 for The Color Purple, followed by a Grammy in 2017 and a Daytime Emmy in 2018. Though she earned two Oscar nominations for Harriet in 2020, the ultimate prize eluded her. This year, she’s back and ready to defy gravity.

In the fiercely competitive Best Actress category, Erivo faces off against Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez), Mikey Madison (Anora), Demi Moore (The Substance), and Fernanda Torres (I’m Still Here). Adding to the excitement, her Wicked co-star Ariana Grande is nominated for Best Supporting Actress, making this a magical moment for the entire cast.
